Education: Fred graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Quinnipiac College in 1982. He later completed his Masters Degree in Healthcare Management from the Hartford Graduate Center.
Training & Certifications: Fred is a certified Manual Therapist (MTC), earning that distinction in 1991 from the University of St. Augustine. Fred also earned Board Certification by the American College for Physical Therapy Specialties as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in 1992 and again in 2001.
Experience: Fred was the Chair of the CPTA Student Affairs Committee and former Advisor of the CPTA’s Student Special Interest Group. From 1994-2007, Fred was a member of the Clinical Faculty in the Orthopedic Master’s Degree program at Quinnipiac University. He is a lecturer in areas of spinal manual therapy, chronic pain management and aquatic therapy.
Clinical Interests: Orthopedic conditions, spinal disorders, neurological conditions, pain management, dizziness & vestibular disorders, manual therapy and TMJ disorders.
Fun Facts: Fred enjoys fishing, kayaking, cycling and hiking. He is the nephew of Boston Celtic great & Basketball Hall of Famer, John Havlicek.
Education: Mary graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. She later went on to Springfield College, where she received her Masters in Adapted Physical Education. Mary then became a certified physical therapist in 1980 after graduating from Columbia University’s PT program. Mary also attended the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy and has been a licensed massage therapist since 2001.
Clinical Interests: Mary is particularly interested in hand therapy, Women’s health, and osteopathic manual therapy.
Fun Facts: When Mary isn’t treating patients, you can find her being very active in her role as President of the New Haven Oratorio Choir. She enjoys gourmet cooking, gardening, outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking. Mary is also a proud cat owner and dog lover.
Education: Rick graduated from the University of Connecticut with his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1997.
Training & Certifications: Rick completed his Vestibular Rehabilitation certification at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta.
Clinical Interests: Rick takes a particular interest in Vestibular rehabilitation, post-concussion rehabilitation, balance and gait training, and Orthopedic injuries. Rick recently hosted a seminar for the Connecticut Physical Therapy Association’s Student Special Interest Group on “Concussion & Vestibular Clinical Testing”.
Fun Facts: Rick has two sons and loves spending time outdoors with them. He loves working on projects at home and is in the process of renovating the house on his own! Rick also spends some of his free time assisting a junior high school youth group at his church.
Education: Russell graduated with his Bachelor of Science from Ithaca College. He later attended Lehman College for a Masters in Education. Russell completed is Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2001 at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Creighton was the first school in the nation to introduce a DPT program, which is now the required degree for new physical therapists entering the field.
Training & Certifications: Dr. Cyriax awarded him full teaching membership in the British Society of Orthopedic Medicine in 1980. Russell is a certified Mulligan instructor and has been a member of the North American Mulligan Concept Teachers Association since August 2014. He is also an APTA board certified orthopedic specialist and has published numerous articles.
Clinical Interests: Russ takes particular clinical interest in diagnostic imaging and orthopedic medicine.
Fun Facts: When he isn’t treating patients, you will find him fulfilling his role as Professor Emeritus as a part-time faculty member at Quinnipiac University; a role in which he’s educated many PTSMC clinicians as they completed their degrees. Russell also has a strong passion for agriculture and farming.
Education: Dr. Theodore Raczka completed his Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a concentration in health promotion and exercise physiology in 2010. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Hartford in May 2016.
Clinical Interests: He has particular interest in orthopedics, concussion rehabilitation, and vestibular rehabilitation therapy, an exercise-based program primarily designed to reduce vertigo and dizziness, gaze instability, and/or imbalance and falls.
Fun Facts: Theodore loves to spend time outdoors at the beach, skiing, hiking, biking and canoeing. He loves seafood, and is a big fan of the NY Giants, Yankees, West Point ARMY football, the Boston Celtics and UCONN basketball.
