Education: Travis completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Science from Gettysburg College in 1994. He received his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1996. His career began in the outpatient physical therapy department of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston before moving to Connecticut. Travis joined PTSMC as a partner in 2006 when he opened the Avon office.
Clinical Interests: Travis has a strong background in musculoskeletal dysfunctions and imbalances, as well as extensive knowledge in Cyriax, McKenzie and Mulligan manual treatment techniques. Travis enjoys treating sports related injuries. He completed training in the Graston Technique; used for the management of soft tissue injuries. In June 2012 Travis became a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedics.
Fun Facts: When not working, Travis enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children. He helps coach his son’s baseball team, works way too hard to improve his golf game without success and enjoys a night playing poker with the guys every now and then. He loves trivia and has a desire to one day make it into the hot seat on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire!
Education: Emily received her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy in 2002 and Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2005 from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She has worked in outpatient physical therapy since graduating, joining PTSMC in Avon in May 2007. She was promoted to Assistant Director in April 2012.
Clinical Interests: Emily completed her certification in McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment of the spine in 2008. In 2011, she completed training in the Graston Technique; used for the management of soft tissue injuries. She is also, trained in biomechanical foot assessment and orthotic management.
Education: Kristin received her Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Science in 1997, and her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy in 1998 from Ithaca College. Kristin has worked in the outpatient physical therapy setting since completing her education. Kristin joined PTSMC of Avon in June 2009.
Clinical Interests: Kristin completed training in the Graston Technique; used for the management of soft tissue injuries in 2011. She is also trained in biomechanical foot assessment and orthotic management. Kristin has particular interest in the treatment of pre and post natal women.
Education: Matthew graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Athletic Training. Matt has over 15 years experience as a fitness professional, including owning The Perfect Workout in Avon. The Perfect Workout provided physical therapy, transitional rehabilitation, personal training, sports medicine and nutritional programs in the Farmington Valley for many years. Matt joined PTSMC through a strategic partnership with Avon Director Travis Lytle, MS, PT, OCS, and Alan Balavender, PT, MS, PTSMC President and Owner of PTSMC in February 2014.
Clinical Interests: Some of Matt’s clinical interests include lumbar stabilization and ADL modification, transitional rehabilitation, and functional training and program modification. He also is certified as a Professional Rescuer with the American Red Cross.
Fun Facts: When Matt is not in the clinic he enjoys spending time with his two children. He cares as much about his personal health as he does his clients, and will workout whenever he can. Matt also enjoys 4-wheeling in his Jeep, endurance races like the Tough Mudder, and riding his motorcycle
Education: Kristen graduated from the University of Saint Joseph with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). She joined PTSMC as a Health Fitness Specialist in February 2014, when The Perfect Workout partnered with the Avon clinic.
Clinical Interests: Kristen believes in total wellness as a lifestyle. She feels that a healthy diet and a consistent fitness regimen to achieve optimal health and long term results.
Fun Facts: When she’s not at the clinic Kristen enjoys exercising. She loves outdoor activities including swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, and skiing. She also enjoys adventure activities like sky diving, zip lining, waterfall repelling, and white water rafting. Kristen likes to cook; her favorite food is sushi.
Education: Laura received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree in December 2010 from Ithaca College. Prior to earning her DPT, Laura also graduated from Ithaca College with her Masters of Physical Therapy in October 2010 and Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Science in 2009.
Clinical Interests: Laura has a strong background in Outpatient Orthopedics. She completed training in the Graston Technique, used for the management of soft tissue injuries. Laura takes particular interest in post-operative rehabilitation of the foot and ankle.
Fun Facts: Laura loves spending time at the beach, especially in the Outer Banks. Laura is the proud owner of Brodie, her beagle.
Education: Jamie graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Science from the University of Connecticut in 2012. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts in early 2016.
Clinical Interests: Jamie loves treating the full spectrum of musculoskeletal issues, but takes a particular interest in the management and treatment of the spine, the use of muscle energy techniques for Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Dysfunction, and the treatments of myofascial pain and Fibromyalgia.
Fun Facts: Jamie enjoys kayaking, hiking, traveling, riding motorcycles and is a big fan of the New England Patriots. Jamie is also the proud “mom” of Nala, her bengal kitten.
Education: Jonathan graduated from the University of Hartford with his Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a minor in biology and psychology. He then earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Hartford in May 2016.
Clinical Interests: Jonathan also has a strong interest in musculoskeletal dysfunctions, manual therapy techniques and glenohumeral arthrokinematics.
Fun Facts: Jonathan has been with Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Centers since 2012. He worked in the Avon clinic as a physical therapy aide and is thrilled to have returned as a member of the clinical team.
Education: Eric received his Bachelor of Science in Biology degree from Providence College in 2011. In 2015, he received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Interests: Some of Eric’s interests include treating musculoskeletal sports related injuries as well as arthokinematics (movement of joint surfaces) and manual techniques. He is looking forward to becoming a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist in the near future.
Fun Facts: When Eric isn’t working he enjoys physical activity, cooking, and the occasional lazy Sunday Star Wars marathon. He also hopes to compete as a 77kg Olympic weightlifter in the American Open in the near future.
